Founded as an Army/Navy surplus store after WWII by Louis Friedman, Lo-Man quickly expanded to include sportswear, work clothes, footwear and other items needed by both outdoor sportsmen and families. In 1988, with the addition of so many products, Lo-Man outgrew its original small location and built a modern 10,000 square foot facility and small shopping complex a block away with handy off-street parking. This has enabled us to continue to broaden and expand our inventory while stocking all of those hard-to-find sizes.
A fixture on the South Shore, Lo-Man is known for its broad selection, fair prices, and customer service. Unlike big box stores, Lo-Man customer representatives will help you select and fit your clothing or footwear items. Generations of families on Long Island have outfitted their families at our familiar and convenient store located in Babylon Village.
Mr. Friedman, Lo-Man's founder, was a well-known local businessman, co-founder and first chief of the Bayshore-Brightwater Ambulance Association, and former president of the Babylon Chamber of Commerce. Throughout his life, Mr. Friedman remained active in both community and charitable causes. Following this tradition, Lo-Man continues to donate to worthy charities and community activities. Lo-Man continues to be operated as a family business and is managed today by Richard Friedman who is dedicated to carrying on its tradition of customer focus and fair prices.
